6 Nations Shirt Auction

Bridgnorth Rugby Club has won 5 6-Nations Shirts and is auctioning them to the highest bidders. The short-sleeved, supporter-quality shirts will be provided in the size and Nation of the winning bidders' choosing. Colours are: Wales - red, Scotland - navy blue, England - white, France - royal blue, Italy - sky blue, Ireland - green.

Bidders can email their bids to info@bridgnorthrfc.co.uk. Auction closes 19 may 2008.

The Edgar Davies Shield

On Saturday Bridgnorth play Kidderminster in their Annual challenge for The Edgar Davies Shield. The Trophy was set up between the two local rivals to keep alive the memory of the famous Welshman who served Rugby in the Midlands for over 50 years, Edgar served Nuneaton, Kidderminster and North Midlands Rugby before helping establish Bridgnorth RFC in 1962 where he served the Club and Shropshire until his death in 2004.

The game appropriately enough is played on The Edgar Davies ground K.O 2.15

Wednesday Night Car Parking

Wednesday night practice is proving increasingly popular with growing numbers of club teams meeting up for training. However, we are seeing an increasing number of cases where people are driving across the U10's pitch when dropping off and picking up which is damaging the pitch and creating problems for the playing surface.

Can we ask that cars stick to the roadway at the side of the pitch or, better still, use the car park itself.

RU Safe to Scrum Course Cancelled

Due to lack of response, for the Scrummage Safety session, on Monday 12th November at Telford Utd Football club it has been cancelled.

RU Safe to Scrum Date Change - now 12 November 2007

Due to facilities the scrummage safety venue and date has changed to Monday 12th November.

7.30pm start @ Telford Football Club learning centre. Cost is £10 per delegate(cheques payable to RFDL).

Note: the venue is the football club and NOT the rugby club.

Bridgnorth Minis go to the Dogs

BRFC U8's coach, Daz Riley has arranged a night at the Monmore Green dogs (W'ton) for a minimum of 50 people on Thursday 7th February, 7.30pm first race. The tickets will be up for grabs for £5 each, the proceeds of which will be donated to the mini rugby funds for kit, etc.

6 local clubs will be invited to take part in each evening. To add to the drama and fun on the evening the 6 clubs compete against each other on the track. Each club is allocated a trap number and the dogs then run to win points for their club. The winning team is then crowned GSL champions and receives a commemorative trophy.

This provides a great opportunity to have a Mini Rugby Parents' get-together whilst raising funds for the mini club. Please contact Daz Riley if you would like to go and if you would like additional tickets for friends, family, etc. A bus will be organised if there is a positive response. The more people we can get to go, the more money we will raise!

Bridgnorth RFC seeks Girls’ Rugby Academy Coordinator.

Exciting times at Bridgnorth Rugby Club has enabled us to acquire funding to support this role. The successful candidate will support the development and growth of girls’ rugby in the local area. The role will involve championing girls’ rugby, organising a range of coaching and development events and liaising with local schools and other agencies involved in the promotion of girls’ rugby. The ideal candidate will have a sports background preferably associated with rugby football. In addition they will need excellent organisational skills, be able to engage and motivate others and effectively communicate using a range of media.

The post is initially offered as one year part-time - 8-hours/week salary circa £3000 p.a. Consideration will be given to less hours per week over longer period

Bridgnorth Rugby Academy 2007-08 Coach Education Programme.

BRFC Director of Rugby, Dale Smallman, has published this season's Coach Education Programme. Any Coach, Member or Player can access and view any of the sessions. On the scheduled dates, Dale will be on hand to speak to any coaches who would like to attend, to introduce the session subject and deliver the session and be on hand to answer any questions. Coaching resources will be available for coaches to take away and implement the content of the session with their specific teams.

It would be helpful for planning if coaches would confirm their intention to attend any of the sessions by contacting Dale one week before, either by email at dale.smallman@tcat.ac.uk or on 07855 055342.
