In March 2007 The Bridgnorth Women's Rugby section secured a substantial grant from the Local Network Fund to set up a Girls Academy at the club.
The Academy aims not only to provide girls with the opportunity to play the growing sport of Rugby Union but also to develop skills in coaching, personal development, first aid etc. which can be developed through coaching at primary schools through the Junior Sports leader Awards (JSLA) based within secondary schools or at the mini and junior section of the club on Sunday mornings.
During the Summer the Academy joined up with the Boys Academy to attend Tag Rugby and Start Rugby courses at the Club, further courses are planned shortly in mini-midi refereeing and first aid.
Girls from year groups 11 to 13 are welcome to attend training at Severn Park on Wednesdays 7pm until 8.30pm. Mouth guards, studded boots and appropriate clothing required, games are played on Sunday afternoons. All levels of experience are welcome to attend from the beginner upwards, training is tailored to suit the needs.
A volunteer coach is urgently needed to help form a year 8 to 10 team. RFU Level 1 required and CRB disclosure anyone interested please contact liz.rochelle@btinternet.com
any girls younger than year 8 play in the Mini & Junior section please contact appropriate coach on this website.
