The Club soon progressed to two and then three teams with games played at The Hobbins, Danesford, Morville and on local School pitches. However, the lack of a clubhouse and the bar income that came with it was a real problem and, in 1976, The Bull Inn – just across the road from the Black Horse as the picture alongside shows – was bought by the club.
The significance of The Bull and The Black Horse is very evident our club logo!
The excitement was immense and the real work and fundraising then began to convert the pub into a rugby clubhouse, with club members all doing their share in demolishing and erecting. The result was an attractive and functional building located conveniently for the playing facilities and for access to the town. Its location is a real advantage. Not only does it serve as home to the club’s 200+ players, it’s a centre for the club’s many other members, acting as a Sports and Social Club, Youth Club and entertainment venue. It’s also run as a normal pub complete with Domino team and two Golf Societies!
Over the years, we've shared our facilities with other Clubs such as the Rowing Club, the Motocross Club and Bridgnorth Athletics Club.
Members can hire the premises free for functions, meetings or parties and, with a dining room seating 60, a large clubroom and several little quiet corners, it’s a very versatile venue for Sales Meetings, Weddings or even funerals.
Non-members can negotiate a price with Sara, our Facilities Manager.
